ItineraryDay 1: Arrive at Keflavík airportArrive at Keflavík airport. Pick up your travel documents and transfer by airport shuttle to your hotel in Iceland's capital, Reykjavik. Runic Travels can recommend sites to see during your first day or just simply spend it relaxing in one of the many cafes. Day 2: Drive along HvalfjörðDrive along Hvalfjörð to the agricultural region of Borgarfjörður. Along the way stop, at the magnificent Eldborg crater on route towards the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Here explore the towering Snæfellsjökull glacier. Day 3: The Snæfellsnes PeninsulaSpend the morning exploring the natural wonders of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. View the countless birds along the Arnarstapi sea cliffs. From here you drive north along the coast, passing through lively fishing villages. Day 4: ReykholtVisit the historic home of saga author, Snorri Sturluson, at Reykholt. Afterwards continue onto the waterfall Hraunfossar and Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe. From there, visit Þingvellir National Park, site of the ancient Icelandic parliament (4WD needed for Kaldidalur valley). From Þingvellir drive to the Geysir hot-spring area to witness the natural wonder and power of the geyser. End your day at the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall. Day 5: Explore the South ShoreExplore the south shore, viewing the spectacular Skógafoss waterfall, Mýdalsjökull glacier and the black beaches around Vík. Visit Dyrhólaey headland where thousands of puffins nest every summer. Return to Reykjavík in the evening. Day 6: Drive to Reykjanes PeninsulaDrive to Reykjanes Peninsula for a visit to Lake Kleifarvatn with its moon like surrondings and then onto Krísuvík geothermal area with its bubbling mud pools. A visit to Grindavík fishing village and the famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing soak in the mineral rich waters is also recommended. End your journey back at your hotel in Reykjavik and enjoy your last night in the "Capital of Cool." Day 7: Transfer Back to the AirportA transfer back to the airport is included, but be sure to schedule your pickup time with the front desk.
