Itinerary
Day 1: Göteborg - Bitterna Kartegården
A representative from Bitterna Lamm will meet you at your hotel or at the Göteborg airport to transfer you to your home for the next 4 nights. Relax and enjoy a 3 course supper as you get to know the family and learn about their unique farm with Viking sheep!
Day 2: Kartegården
Begin the day with a hearty Swedish breakfast before your first bike tour. The tour today consists of an easy 30 km around the local lake. At the far end of the lake enjoy a BBQ lunch with your hosts. Upon return to the farm enjoy another wonderful dinner and an evening of history as the family tells stories of the birth of Sweden and educates you on Swedish culture.
Day 3: Kartegården
Today head east towards the ruins of a church built by Hamlet's half brother. Continue on through one of the largest farming areas in Sweden with excellent views. You'll also pass one of the most important grave fields in Sweden, dating from the 5th century. A picnic lunch is included. The distance today is about 60 km, but an additional 15km through typical Swedish forests is highly recommended. Upon return to the farm enjoy a Swedish massage before supper.
Day 4: Kartegården
The tour today consists of 75 km of medium to heavy biking. Travel southwards towards one of the oldest and most remarkable churches in Sweden. The surrounding village barely remains, but in the 12th century it was the capital of Sweden. You will also pass one of the highest points in Southern Sweden, which would make a great place to enjoy your picnic lunch. The tour can be shorted to 60km if you skip the view. Return to the farm in the evening for dinner and another history lesson!
Day 5: Kartegården
Travel north to the farming plains. Here you can see typical mills used only during the spring floods. Visit the small village of Vedum with around 1000 inhabitants. Stroll the streets and possibly do a little shopping before return for your last night at Kartegården.
Day 6: Kartegården - Göteborg
Say good bye to the family and return to Göteborg via train. For additional nights in Kartegården or Göteborg contact Runic Travels!
